It’s easy to talk about aging being beautiful.
But how much has the needle truly moved in the last 5 years? Do women over 50 actually believe that they are more stunning with each passing day?
Or is ‘graceful aging’ a platitude they repeat in hopes that the affirmation will stop the turbulence of insecurities, and birth self-confidence instead?
There are quite a few silver queens who consider aging and beauty to have a symbiotic relationship; but even the most confident champions face hurdles each day. And often… it feels like a losing battle in the eyes of non-believers.
How can we help mature women truly celebrate being beautiful at their own pace, without covertly advocating for 'mature beauty' to be lines and wrinkles - (yes) - but a continued sense of that 20’s perfection?
More and more influencers, celebrities, and famous women over 50 opt for face lifts or fillers, let their hair go gray, and advertently or inadvertently - push an elite version of ‘pro-aging’.
Look inward, beautiful…your over-50 knowledge, compassion, and empathy has never been more stunning.
"Some days I question if we are shifting the needle around allowing women age peacefully at all."
There is nothing wrong with procedures when you choose to do them because you are well-informed about what they add to your life. And it is your conscious decision.
But it is problematic when the fact that facelifts and fillers have gone into the publicly displayed standard of ‘pro-aging’ is kept from the public.
We don’t want pro-aging to be the next home of a sneaky version of the anti-aging narrative!
And for that, we must begin to not only embrace the changes we see physically with the years, but also the complete definition of beauty … So we never feel the fear of losing our worth and value.
So we become difficult to manipulate!
Beauty: The quality of giving pleasure to the senses.
Yes, we said sense(s).
With five of them at your fingertips — sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch — the search for blessings is far from a chore. Especially for a silver queen.
Beauty can be the crumbly deliciousness of cookies you bake with your grandchildren, a perfume you’ve made your signature scent for decades, or the laughter of your loved ones heard from the next room.
All this being said, society still tends to focus on one particular sense: sight.
Is there a reason that we’ve been falsely led to believe that sensory pleasure must be marked by symmetry and perfection, the hallmarks of youth?
It’s easy to blame the media for these outdated standards, or many of the beauty brands we grew up with for making products exclusively for 20-somethings.
However, the best way to beat this narrow, one-dimensional, and ageist view of beauty is to veer around it, understanding that what we have put on the pedestal is just one of the 5 senses and a very limited definition of ‘pleasure’.
Reminder: it’s never too late to alter your mindset and uncover how aging is not the antithesis of beauty…but rather a contributor to it.
Your wisdom, lessons, and experiences all contribute to your inner and outer beauty, and even a little lash volume or crisp lipstick never hurt anyone.
1. Beauty begins with the realization that self-love and self-worth are essential to being ‘able’ to ‘see’ beauty.
Not just thigh gaps, flowing tresses, or tiny waists, either, but the psychological qualities that make somebody radiate, both inside and out, as a human being.
Kindness, empathy, honesty, integrity…acknowledging these things within yourself first allows you to spot them in others. Which is something that our stressed, frenetic society often forgets. How do we get past these biases and begin to appreciate the beauty in both ourselves and those around us? We have a few ideas.
Practicing gratitude — whether through journaling, meditation, or daily manifestation — is essential to seeing beauty everywhere. You can also engage in self-care, start volunteering, and take a moment to reflect on your achievements. Our personal favorite? Use the Prime calendar — 28 days of self-love — to get a headstart!
Proactively expand your perception of what beauty entails. Beyond the visual prompts. Look at your photographs from when you were in your teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, … layered with what you achieved, who you became - as the decades went by. Train yourself to write this down. Create lists. Then, do it for other women! Uplift everyone.

2. Identify your own beauty words. What do you consider beautiful in 2025? Add them to your vision board — either a physical one or a piece of your imagination — and jump headfirst into your manifestation of each.
Let’s assume you think fit is beautiful. Go be fit. But do ask yourself, “what does a fit queen who has lived the years I have look like?” Maybe it’s Pilates once a week to start, before launching into a more consistent workout routine.
Or perhaps you’re attracted to the term “social?” Why not get two beautiful birds with one stone?
Plan a 3x a week neighborhood walk with your partner, daughter, or close friend(s) for a dose of socialization, with a side of fitness.
You get where we’re going with this. Beauty truly is in the eyes of the beholder, and there are no wrong answers here. What’s beautiful is entirely up to you, and you can make these stunning words and manifestations a part of your 2025 goals.
3. Educate the people around you to realize the essence of what beauty is!
You would want your daughter & granddaughter, your friends to ‘see’ their own beauty, right? You certainly wouldn’t want them blinkered & blinded by the twisted and biased perceptions the media is selling!!!
Of course, don’t be too hard on them either, as it all comes down to heuristics. These mental shortcuts or “rules of thumb” often lead people to develop shallow or inaccurate views of beauty. For example, it’s mostly young, blonde, and thin women in the media, so the rest of us must be unattractive, right?
Wrong! A million times wrong. As we’ve told you countless times, we’re all beautiful by our own definitions. And it’s your mission to spread this message to not only yourself, but your loved ones, as well. Shower them with compliments, love, and positivity to boost their self-worth and sense of beauty.
Beauty isn't a destination, but a journey of continuous self-discovery and celebration.
It's about embracing every chapter of your life with radical self-acceptance, turning societal limitations into opportunities for personal growth.
Whether you're 25 or 65, your beauty is a dynamic, multisensory experience that transcends visual standards - it's the story you tell, the wisdom you've gathered, and the confidence you radiate.
So go forth, silver queens: redefine beauty on your own terms, uplift those around you, and remember that your most stunning quality is the unapologetic authenticity with which you live each moment!
