For Diane Beard, living with a sense of gratitude has always been a given. Before, during, and especially after her brush with breast cancer that made her the Survthrivor she is today.
The term “lucky” isn’t often uttered when discussing a cancer diagnosis, but that’s just how Diane chooses to embrace the journey of life. And if she can inspire even one fellow silver queen with her adventurous spirit and optimism, that’s more than enough for her!
A year after her lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation, she’s sharing her insights with Prime that helped guide her through a challenging time. Oh, and also her favorite beauty products worthy of a chemo warrior.
Being diagnosed with cancer is never easy. That being said, the now 65-year-old Diane initially thought that her case would be less challenging than most.
She was only stage one, after all, and assumed that she would walk away tumor-free after a quick surgery. Sadly, this wasn’t so. Even with the small size of her mass, Diane’s oncologist assigned her four rounds of chemo and a month of radiation to zap every last bit of it.
There’s often a misconception that cancer, when caught early, is easy or painless to treat. However, like any condition, the way your body responds to cancer is deeply personal and dependent on various factors. Some may need chemo, others won’t. Certain women will experience minimal symptoms, while others find themselves hunched by the toilet more often. And that’s all perfectly normal.

It’s also a reminder of one of the most vital parts of our pro-age philosophy — that every woman’s body is unique and has its own needs. And you should never feel badly that your body didn’t react to cancer treatment in the same way as your girlfriends.
Speaking of which, it’s time we talk about another aspect of the pro-age movement…looking out for your favorite silver queens and lifting them up when they need it most. Diane is the embodiment of this practice in every way, even as she herself endured one of the scariest diseases on the planet. During our conversation, she referred to her friends as “the true warriors” as they’ve “been through much, much worse” than she had. You see, selflessness has always been in Diane’s DNA.
"I truly was one of the lucky ones with my brush with cancer. I thought about my friends who have been through much much worse. They are the true warriors. Going on this side road from the main road of life has taught me to truly embrace every moment of life, enjoy life. I'm so thankful for my family who supported, and embraced me. I truly believe if you have dreams go for them.... The journey is amazing."
When she wasn’t traveling the world or doing projects with her husband, her favorite pre-cancer pastime was “anonymously helping people.” Whether she was buying coffee for the car behind her at Starbucks, paying for a stranger’s groceries, or picking up tabs at a restaurant…she never expected any credit for it. And that remains truer than ever as she’s joined the Prime community — inspiring other over-50 women to live with the same generosity and appreciation she displays daily.
"I wanted to really embrace life and chase my dreams and perhaps along the way maybe inspire one person that they will come through their challenges on this journey of life. Let them know they are truly beautiful inside and their beauty shines."
As any avid Prime user knows, uplifting a silver queen in need is the basis behind our brand. Whether she needs positive words, pro-age products, or a gentle push towards the fulfilling life she desires and deserves, we’re always here to provide it. So is it any surprise that we picked a 24/7 cheerleader like Diane as our monthly Surthrivor? She’s dedicated to showing every mature woman how beautiful she is, inside and out, and inspiring them to follow their dreams along the way. Just like she did.
Diane during chemo
Prior to her diagnosis, Diane was simply a soap-and-water type of woman. She had long, semi-wavy hair that she “never really thought much about”... that is, until it began falling out from the chemo. However, she went through the motions like a champ, and came out on top with a crown of salt-and-pepper post-chemo curls to prove it. Now, she smiles when she sees these new strands in the mirror, as they’re a reminder of what she overcame!
As for makeup? Her appreciation for pro-age products from Prime Prometics is a testament to Diane’s giving nature. Casual reminder: with every purchase, we donate a portion of the proceeds to our various charity partners, with over $200,000 raised in the last year alone. Remember her penchant for “anonymously helping people?” We can’t think of a better way than filling her cart and supporting other silver queens at the same time. And the full face of healing, nourishing glam she gets in return doesn’t hurt, either.
"Post chemo, I started using Prime products for my eyebrows and face. They helped me look my best and felt great on my face. And their customer support was truly awesome. They answered all my questions regarding my face during and after chemo. I was super excited when they offered Prime eyeliner and easy, beautiful shadows. I use all three shades to build on and the eyeliners are awesome, as well."
Now that she’s finished with chemo, Diane is living her life to the fullest. And for an avid traveler like herself, there’s nothing better than the PrimeLash Mascara that she gushes “stays on through her 9+ hour flights.” Or the PrimeBrow Complete filled with growth-boosting ingredients that have vastly improved her arches after they became sparse during chemo. And of course, we can’t forget the PrimeEyes Glide eyeliner that flatters her eyes in every color.

Diane at present
Here at Prime Prometics, there’s nothing more beautiful than the Cycle of Silver Queen Support™. And that’s saying a lot, since you’ve seen our super-vibrant products! But in reality, our top priority is helping our community of 200,000 women over 50, and here’s the kicker…all it takes is one woman to change somebody else’s life.
For instance, Diane Beard pays for the drink of the person behind her, making their day brighter and inspiring them to do the same. Next, our premium customer support team guides Diane through her new post-chemo beauty routine, allowing her to achieve peak levels of confidence that leaves her simply glowing. Finally, a handful of women read our Survthrivor feature on Diane and are inspired to make the most of their post-chemo existence — showing appreciation for everything that life has to throw at them. Do you see where we’re going with this?
